Get Stock Android On Your Xiaomi Mi 5X With This Android One Port

The Xiaomi Mi 5X is a great looking phone, but after the Mi A1 launched with stock Android people were feeling a little let down until today.

The Xiaomi Mi 5X has got it all. A decent design, metal body and pretty good dual rear cameras (you can read our Xiaomi Mi 5X review here), the only issue is that Xiaomi went and released a new version of the Mi 5X in India, the Mi A1, with stock Android and stock is always better, right?

Well if you’re a Xiaomi Mi 5X owner and you’ve been lusting over that stock Android One ROM on the A1 we have some excellent news for you.

A developer going by the name of heli0us has gone ahead and created an Android One port for the Xiaomi Mi 5X which brings the same stock Android experience to the Mi 5X that Mi A1 owners are currently enjoying. While we haven’t had the opportunity to test this ROM for ourselves, the dev states that the ROM is completely stable and that everything works as it should right out of the box!

Gizchina News of the week

This is great news especially after it was discovered that simply downloading and installing the A1’s OS on to the Mi 5X wouldn’t work.

If you do feel like making the switch from MIUI to Stock Android then you can follow the link below where there are download and installation instructions, but please do remember that any modding like this should be done at your own risk, and we or the developer cannot be held responsible if you do manage to brick your device.

If you don’t already own the Xiaomi Mi 5X then here are a couple of discount codes to buy the phone now during the Autumn sale over Gearbest:
