Meiigoo S8 with 6.1-inch 18:9 Aspect Ratio Official Unboxing (Video)

We’ve already seen the Meiigoo S8 in renders and other teaser videos in the past, so we already have an idea on what the smartphone looks like. Nonetheless, now we have a first real glance at the handset in an unboxing video released by the Chinese phone maker. Let’s go ahead and watch it, shall we?

So, there we have it, the Meiigoo S8 beaming in its black body resembling a lot the more expensive Samsung S8 / S8 Plus. In the premium-looking packaging we also find an “explosion-proof” screen protector, a clear protective case, SIM removal tool, a charger, an USB data cable and user manual; pretty much all the basic accessories.

This all looks nice but what’s the actual hardware? Well, let’s begin with the 6.1-inch display at the front that features the trendy 18:9 display aspect ratio, plus it’s also coated in 3D curved glass and sports a screen-to-body ratio as high as 83%. Under the hood we find a good performing Mediatek MT6750T chipset clocked at 1.5GHz, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Finally we get a dual camera setup on the back with 13MP + 5MP resolutions, below them a fingerprint scanner; meanwhile at the front there’s a 5MP selfie shooter.

The Meiigoo S8 is powered by a good sized 3300mAh battery and runs latest Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box.

The Meiigoo S8 can be pre-ordered over at Gearbest for just $199.99. Learn more about the phone on the official website.

A Mediatek MT6750T for $200 ? Seriusly , we had MT6752 ( pretty much the same performance ) phones for the same price 2 years ago and oh yeah, they had better resolution screens too, fullHD not 720p like this crap….
I’m getting more annoyed with these phones each day …

Actually it’s 1036 pixel so full HD. And those phones had lower batteries and not so much of a design. If this phone is made good both hardware and software then it is actually a very good price IMO.
