Huawei Air Glass appears in new trademark – for Mate 30 series?

Huawei Mate 30 Pro

The latest technology for protecting smartphone display is probably the use of Corning Gorilla Glass. However, the upcoming Huawei Mate 30 will probably not use that. Rather, the company may use an Air Glass screen protector. In the second half of this year, we expect the Huawei Mate 30 series. This series includes Huawei Mate 30, Mate 30 Pro and the cheaper Mate 30 Lite.

Huawei Mate 30 to use Huawei Air Glass

Gizchina News of the week

A recent trademark application from Huawei to the EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office) and to the UK IPO (Intellectual Property Office) refers to the Huawei Air Glass. The trademark was filed on July 29, 2019, by Forresters from Munich, Germany. This company trades more often in the name of Huawei Technologies.

The name Huawei Air Glass falls in Class 9. It has an extensive description including: ‘Covers for smartphones; cases for smartphones; Protective glasses; covers for tablet computers; protective films adapted for smartphones; Stands adapted for mobile phones.”

With the name Air Glass, you quickly think of a screen protector. The Huawei P30 (Pro) uses a screen protector but it is not the well-known Corning Gorilla Glass. Huawei may also want to protect the screen of its new Mate using the ‘Air Glass’. However, the Mate 20 series comes with a Corning Gorilla Glass.
