Lu Weibing: Redmi K30 is on the road – to cost above 2000 yuan ($281)

A couple of weeks ago, the general manager of Redmi brand confirmed that the Redmi K30 will be Redmi’s first 5G smartphone. A few days ago, he revealed that this smartphone is coming. According to his Weibo post, “5G has arrived. Don’t worry, Redmi K30 is already on the road”. This implies that this smartphone will probably arrive in the coming months.

His post came on the same day, Qualcomm announced the launch of the Snapdragon 700 Series 5G mobile platform. According to Qualcomm, Redmi is one of the brands to use this chip. Redmi announced that it will be the world’s first brand to use the Snapdragon 700 series 5G chip. Nevertheless, another Chinese manufacturer, Oppo, laid a similar claim. According to Qualcomm’s schedule, the Snapdragon 700 series 5G chip will be commercially available later this year. However, smartphones with this chip will enter the market next year.

Since the Redmi K30 will probably use the Snapdragon 7xx 5G chip, then the smartphone should arrive next year. Unfortunately, Redmi did not disclose the specific model to use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 series 5G mobile platform, it may be the K30.
