Gizchina News of the week

The document was completed by the subsidiary Samsung Electronics. This suggests that this new technology will indeed be intended for smartphones. A theory which is confirmed a little further in the category of products, in which one can read “screen for smartphones”. The Galaxy Note 20, which will have a large 6.9-inch screen. It could therefore be the first to benefit from this new panel. This device being a high-end model, this would undoubtedly make it an ideal candidate to inaugurate a new display technology.

Unless this screen is part of a project for a new foldable smartphone from Samsung. The trademark registered via this patent currently bears the name “PIFF”. One could, therefore, imagine that one of the letters F refers to the term “foldable”. After all, the manufacturer seems to be enjoying real success with its second foldable phone, the Galaxy Z Flip, which is estimated to reach 5 million units sold this year.

For devices compatible with 5G, Samsung has so far decided to adopt OLED technology, as confirmed by the Galaxy S20 Ultra. Samsung Display also announced a few weeks ago a new AMOLED screen that consumes less energy, which will have in its future smartphones. However, the term OLED is visibly absent from the patent filed last week by Samsung Electronics. But the diagrams and descriptions of the technology have not been released. Without these elements, we can only speculate on the nature of this mysterious new screen technology.
