Newman unveils it’s next flagship phone the Newman K1 asks fans to name it

Newman have finally unveiled the design of their new quad-core flagship phone. Currently known as the Newman K1, the Chinese electronics maker has asked fans to take part in a competition to name the new phone.

For a company who have only been in the smartphone market for just over a year, Newman are doing surprisingly well. Their first phone, the N1 sold incredibly well, and the follow up Newman N2 is by far one of the best Chinese phones we have ever tested.

Gizchina News of the week

But with a new year comes a new flagship phone and the Newman K1 is that phone! All we know about the new phone is what we have learned from the press renders provided here. The design is very similar to the Meizu Mx and looks to feature the volume rocker on the left hand side with the power/hold button sitting on the right.

We’ve reached out to Newman but they aren’t providing further details, expect the fact that they have launched a competition on their forums for member to give the Newman K1 and “meaningful Chinese name”.

We can’t wait to see more from Newman and the flagship K1 and look forward to future leaks!

Nice timing announcing their late-to-the-party phone. Now there’d be even more conflicting buyers.

I wouldn’t advice anybody to but the Newman N2. The battery life is so short and the screen becomes incredibly hot and can even burn your skin. I bought it and now I know it is a waste of money. Sheer waste of money

Wow! I didn’t experience that when we reviewed it earlier this year. Thanks for the info though

      Bad batch maybe?

Hot phone is one of the reason why MT6589 phones are so enticing.

Are you sure? My Newman N2 is just fine. Sure it does heat up sometimes, but nowhere near the point of burning your skin. The battery life on mine is fine too, pretty much on par with my sister’s Galaxy S3.

Like you, Andi, I think it’s by far one of the best Chinese mobiles and the most balanced and best ratio price / performance 😉

The Newman N2 had way too many problems, just look at vondroid (IMEI issue, overheating, Simcard problem, video focus only working on patch 0.23, softkey light bleeding, bad screens). If it didnt had problems it would have been a nice quadcore that was released early

Si maybe is a strategy to not use the next expected name as N3. People which knows about N2 problems will think this will be another story.
I see no other reason for Newman to use another name than N3.

NOBODY even mentioned that N2 did not have LED notification for sms etc. with a new phone arriving, Newman will not fix the problems with N2

The Newman N2 Freelander I20 and Tesera are all same phone. Problems reported in all.
Specs listed on websites are all ambiguous and vary with each listing.
If phone only has WDCMA 2100 then it is really only a 2 G phone in Australia due to Telstra changing to 850 and another carrier 900 However all pre-paid with telstra will be essentially on 2 G if there is no other frequency apart from 2100.

Soooo… Isn’t this the kind of situation where everybody is jumping to name something “Bacon” ?
Btw, what is chinese for ‘bacon’?
