Lenovo K900 to launch April 17 for $480

It seems we got our dates confused at Lenovo are planning to launch the Intel powered K900 on April 17th at the surprisingly low-price of just 2999 Yuan ($480).

The Intel powered Lenovo K900 was officially launched at the start of the year at CES, since then we have other impressive Android smartphones arrive on the market, however they all pale in comparison to the might of the K900.

Previous leaks show that the K900 is possibly the most powerful Android smartphone to date with Antutu benchmarks reaching the dizzy heights of over 25,000! That’s quad-core territory this dual-core Intel phone is trending in!

Gizchina News of the week

The K900 isn’t all about the processor though as Lenovo have managed to deck the phone out with a HD display measuring 5.5-inch, 2GB RAM, 13 mega-pixel Sony Exymor rear sensor and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean all packed in a compact 6.9mm stainless steel body!

With a feature set like that you would think that Lenovo would be planning to ask for a sizeable hunk of change, but according to Chinese press they plan to launch the K900 at the same price as the Oppo Find 5, 2999 Yuan ($480)!.

In comparison though the Find 5 has a smaller 5-inch display, less powerful 1.5Ghz Snapdragon S4 CPU and plastic body!

We can’t wait to see the K900 in the flesh!

Real beast in performance! Display is to big IMO. Is it Full HD?

    How is the battery?

Well the price is not bad but this still is an expensive phone… I like it but it’s too big and I’m not quite happy about the Intel CPU.
Yes, it’s a powerful CPU but almost all native Android stuff right now is compiled for ARM so this will need emulation which will bring performance down.
Also I’m not too fond of the PowerVR graphics used. Looking forward to the newer Intel CPUs though.

Good point, I didn’t even think about the implications of the fact that most apps are compiled for arm. I wonder how many developers submit apps for Android x86?

Very good price, the diamond cut stainless steel option is interesting. It’s in many ways a great phone.

Z2580 vs Tegra4 (phone model) Intel probably comes out just ahead.

So the concerns are depending if it’s a 32nm chip – battery life and lack of LTE.
Not 100% sure about Intel dev support, Nvidia of course we all know the history.

Is it having a removable battery or fixed? It’s on my list of buying. Thanks

Not sure, but I bet it will have a nonuser serviceable battery and no expandable memory card slot, but that’s just a guess.
