Pioneer teaming up with Chinese appliance store Suning to offer quad-core MT6589 powered Pioneer S90w from next week.
As the Chinese phone martet takes off, more and more big brands are jumping on to the bandwagon with their own Mediatek powered low-cost offerings. The latest big brand to do so is Pioneer with the quad-core MT6589 Pioneer S90w which has been spotted ahead of launch!
Gizchina News of the week
Pricing of the Pioneer S90w is likely to be higher than similar spec Chinese branded phones, however with a big brand name and stylish narrow design it is still likely to attract a lot of attention.
As for the hardware, the S90w gets a 720HD 5-inch display, 1.2Ghz Quad-core MT6589 CPU, 1GB RAM, 8GB ROM, 8 mega-pixel rear camera, 2 mega-pixel front, 2000mAh battery and DOLBY sound.
Like the majority of MTK powered phones the Pioneer S90w will also offer dual-sim support and a micro SD card slot.

Lower specs. + High price = Brand name
I expect Android 4.1 not 4.2
Gionee dream D1 and this one which is better? and what is price comparison any info?
this looks far ahead, has bigger screen, hardware buttons , much thinner profile, my vote for pioneer.
do u have idea of pricing?
i would expect not more than $300. not just because i want, the previous p80w model wasn’t that overpriced, having similar configuration to g3 and umi x1 phones.
Looks great imo! Where can I find a international seller?
Looks stunning hoping they won’t overprice it like zopo zp980
I wonder why the 2000mAh battery?
Or better yet I am wondering if any of those 2500-2800mAh batteries are real…?
It’s to keep it thin. all the phones with 2500-3000 mah are thicker.
hey andi, do you have any idea on the pricing of this phone? will it stay under 200 dollar?
Dreams! Maybe under $400.
don’t mean resellers prices i mean china prices. all other phones with these specs or better are around 160 dollar(1000 yuan) so if they price this to high it won’t sell
Maybe a Pioneer single SIM can be under $200. If is dual sim will be much more. I know China is more cheap but not like some people are dreaming. Also the chinese are selling with about 30% profit.
Hi, it would be great to have an idea of its pricing.
Any reseller website selling it?
Yeah ….. I’d also like to know where i could buy it next week.
I have a friend in Shanghai these days. Looking forward anxiously for s90w’s availability at the Suning store. I’ve asked him to make a call to them and inquire abt it’s arrival, pricing etc. Will share with u guys if and when I get a response.
That’d be great Haroon
well, he called the Suning store yesterday (in fact he asked a chinese colleague of his to do it, since he himself knows the least abt the language like myself), they put them on hold, which turned into a quite long hold.. they had to hang up!
there is still hope though, as he’ll try to visit them in person on coming weekend.
I guess customer service are the same everywhere… =) Thanks for your (and your friends) effort, keep us posted!
Best mobile.
