Breaking: JiaYu Confirms JiaYu G4 Turbo in development, standard model launch soon!

JiaYu have been speaking out about a few things this weekend, namely the delay in launch of the G4, and if their will be a 1.5Ghz Turbo JiaYu G4 launched.

The last time we spoke to our sources at JiaYu about the possibility of an updated 1.5Ghx MT6589T JiaYu G4 Turbo launching the answer was a very typical ‘maybe’, maybe in this case meaning YES!

JiaYu have confirmed that they are in fact developing and debugging a version of the G4 with the updated processor as we speak, and have suggested that the more powerful version of the phone will also be able in either 1GB ‘Youth’ and 2GB Advances options.

Gizchina News of the week

Announcing that they are working on the JiaYu G4 Turbo even before the standard version of the phone has launched strikes us a rather typical, and not very well informed JiaYu marketing move! Customers are now likely tempted to wait for the faster model rather than buy the 1.2Ghz MT6589 G4, however in my opinion I suggest getting the standard G4 when it launches and then wait for the JiaYu G6 if you really want a Turbo phone. The JiaYu G6 has also been revealed to be running the MT6589T CPU, but will also pack a larger 5.7-inch display with full 1080 resolution.

So, back to the current JiaYu G4 model? When will JiaYu launch the 1.2Ghz MT6589 G4? Well this all depends on the government, as JiaYu are now waiting to receive the official ‘green’ light from the Ministry of Communication before they can begin large-scale manufacture.

Oh man. I would love to have the Turbo version as I don’t want to buy an outdated product but then again I know they’ll launch the turbo in late December or early next year.. I’M IN A DILEMMA!!

Ok, JiaYu confirms G4 Turbo development; they have confirms also the OTG function but we don’t see nothing!
    https://www.gizchina.com/2013/04/07/jiayu-g4-to-get-otg-function/

JiaYu announced the Ministry of Communication licence in the firs week of may and now they haven’t a date for a “green light”.
How many lies JiaYu will tell us yet?

    • May 20, 2013

The full production run of JiaYu G4’s are meant to have OTG, the samples which have been sent out for testing (ours included) doesn’t have this. It can’t be much longer now

Thats funny, they announce a Turbo version, yet they can’t even produce a Standard version for consumers to buy beforehand.

“before they can begin large-scale manufacture.”
-> means all the pre-ordered youth versions are not even manufactured yet (not even talking about the advance version) NICE πŸ˜€
I don’t get how people can still wait for this crap.

      • May 20, 2013

I have just been speaking to JiaYu. The G4 will go in to full production by the end of the month, however there are some JiaYu stores here in China that already have limited stocks and selling them, however the price is at a much higher 1499 Yuan ($243)

  9. May 20, 2013

Wait for the G6 πŸ˜€ haha it allready feels like i have been waiting forever. And the 5.7″ inch is a bit to mutch for me. I just want the Jiayu G4 advanced turbo and FAST πŸ˜€ But if it isnt released before the beginning of august i will buy the Xiaomi MI3

So if i understand correct The Jiayu G4 basic and advanced will come out with the mt6589t processor?

    Or will there be a:
    G4 basic
    G4 Advanced
    G4 basic Turbo
    G4 Advanced Turbo

    • May 20, 2013

Why I say get the G6 if you want a Turbo phone is because the wait for the Turbo G4 is likely going to be just as long as it has been for the G4. Mi3 wont every be available out of China at a reasonable price only way you would be able to get one any where near retail by visiting HK, Taiwan or Mainland China.

      • May 20, 2013

So there will be an advanced version without the turbo version? Screw it wich ever comes first πŸ˜€ i am really getting inpatient my ZTE skate has dust under the screen and the headphone jack is f*cked. + that the phone sucks in general :p

Is it likely that we will see the advanced verion soon? Because i really cant wait till october or december.

        • Simon
          May 20, 2013

          You wouldn’t recommend having a ZTE ?

          • May 20, 2013

No i do but I would not recommend having a 800mhz single core smartphone πŸ˜‰

  10. Simon
    May 20, 2013

So its most likely, be waiting until Christmas at the earliest for the Jiayu G4 Turbo. The Nexus 5 is coming out in the Autumn !!

  11. May 20, 2013

Andi just a quick question! Can you see a diference between the display resolutions 1080P – 720P? For example UMi X2 vs Jiayu G4?

    • May 20, 2013

If I’m concerned, I’d go for the 720p screen phone.

    • Jan M
      May 21, 2013

Unless you really NEED 1080p for some particular reason – if you have the choice between 2 sets with more or less same hardware, but 720p and 1080p same quality displays – I’d advice you to go for the 720p. Well over twice as many pixels rendered at all times, on such small displays – I can’t help but feel its just a waste of resources.

There aren’t really all that many decent full-HD apps and games out there yet – and /maybe/ you’d see the difference on a large tablet, or if you ductaped your phone to your forehead. The biggest difference to really consider on a 5-6″ screen or less, is display _quality_, Even some Full-HD displays are manufactured in the “sub-sh*t catecory”. Vibrant colors, good viewing angles, good contrast and response – these things has nothing to do with the number of pixels.

Seemingly according to jiayu forum – G4 got its certificate on 16th May itself.. Let’s see when they start manufacturing in numbers… see here http://www.tenaa.com.cn/(S(5wbhlmalg3knrlbzcsvxvlam))/WSFW/LicenceShow.aspx?code=fuXa5VeNm33EoGy2B0x%2by060NeJXckLEljNKVAutmVfYHbD8rh8o%2ffQFUk85SVPA

Hey wait for a sec to clear something out here.
Same Cpu runing on 1.5Ghz doesn’t mean that it will consume more battery ???
Think about it before purchasing any turbo version !!!

    • Anurag
      May 23, 2013

ARM devices actually work at much slower speeds all the time – but accelerate depending on seeing more CPU hungry apps thrown at ’em. Turbo version only tells that max performance will be higher for this 6589T – But no impact to battery in general usage..

      • Manos
        May 23, 2013

It will have same impact to the battery but its OK for me !
When they are going to release it is the problem!
