JiaYu Confirms JiaYu G2F WCDMA specs for international Model

jiayu g2f review

JiaYu have cleared up some details regarding their JiaYu G2F WCDMA model for international markets. Here are the details.

There was great news dashed with a little confusion this week when JiaYu confirmed the low-cost ($80 in China) JiaYu G2F would launch midway through March in WCDMA guise. The confusion came when the display specs had changed, here are the official details.

Gizchina News of the week

JiaYu contacted us earlier to confirm that the screen on the WCDMA model will in fact be different to the version of the TD-SCDMA China only phone. Obviously the size at 4.3-inch remains unchanged however the resolution and type of display has changed. JiaYu say the WCDMA G2F will in fact have a lower 854 x 480 resolution but explained the reason for this change is due to the use of an OGS panel on the international phone. JiaYu are confident that the OGS panel (which is thinner and improves viewing angles) is a better all round display when compared to the 1280 x 720 resolution screen on the China only model.

The rest of the JiaYu G2F specifications remain the same on both models with the addition of WCDMA 850/2100mHz support on the new phone. To keep those specs clear in your mind they include Corning Gorilla Glass 2 display, 2 mega-pixel front camera, 8 mega-pixel rear, 1GB RAM, 4GB of internal memory and a 1.3Ghz MT6582 chipset.

Once the JiaYu G2F goes on sale we will bring your further details.

What do you think of the change in screen resolution? do you think the OGS panel makes up for the lower resolution?

The 480×800 display on a 4inch Samsung S3 Mini is perfectly fine so I expect the 480×854 on the 4.3inch G2F will also suffice, especially if the price tag stays below 110USD for international buyers.

      Hi,
Jiayu G2F was annonced as a super quality and affordable smartphone. With a 480×854, it is still a good phone but not anymore the super deal we were expecting.

Higher resolution > OGS imho. In this 499 yuan categorie I expect that the basics are solid, as in: minimal QHD resolution and preferable 1280×720 on a 4,3 inch or 4,5 inch device. OGS to me is some kind of luxury on these devices which aren’t needed, sure, they are nice, but if it means going back to WVGA resolution I’m used to from my 3,5 inch ZTE Blade, I’m not going to accept it anymore in 2014 on a 4,3 / 4,5 inch device such as the G2F. Therefore: such a shame, a real bummer it turns out to be like this. Jiayu could have it all, the perfect Android budget chinaphone, instead they choose to cripple it last minute… I mean, why do I have to choose between 3G signal and resolution? I want my cake and eat it too! Can’t have it all I guess πŸ˜‰

Funny that you mention the ZTE Blade, I wanted to replace mine with the G2F πŸ˜‰ Now I don’t really know if i should buy the 3G or the HD version… Does anybody know any alternatives? Many people say that the Display is a dealbreaker… but are there any other smartphones with a screen <4,5 inch and a price tag <100$?

        Hi,
If you consider ordering a phone from china, i advice you to pick one with at least a 4-core (6582 or 6589), 1G of ram and for the screen it’s up to you (I personnaly prefare a 720p).
There’s a good phone 4-core aned 1G ram but a poor resolution screen 480p which is the W450.
In my opinion, you should take a lenovo s650 or a jiayu g4 (4.7″ but smaller than most 4.5″ phones), maybe g2F if thez reconsider the resolution.
        chose your seller carefully πŸ˜‰

Screen resolution was the best part of this model, now they killed it….
Waiting for hongmi update or g4 8 core…. also xiaomi 2s is only 249 dollars from international resellers

Yeah real shame, I have to agree, without an HD display it doesn’t appeal anymore, not with so many other quality HD display phones about for only a little more.

    Don’t forget that Samsung S2 has 400x800px on a 4.3′

One of the most promising phones of 2014 just became the most failing phone in 2014. The could have sold A LOT OF THESE but now they probably will sell a lot less than the could have! Shame on Jiayu lol.

Voted with my wallet. Ordered the HD model without 3G.
I have WiFi at home and work. 2G is adequate for mail/WhatsApp anyway.

Very disappointing! I think most of the mobile companies have no idea what the people claim. This craziness of even bigger and even bigger screens and thinner and even thinner phones with good for nothing batteries.
OGS is unnesessary if the price is this low resolution. It can be 1 mm thicker for a bigger battery, I want a cellphone that I don’t have to recharge every day and not 200 g and so big I can’t hold it in my hand normally.
I won’t buy it with the current specs. πŸ™

I think that it still remains a good phone… we have to see a screen comparation between g2f and galaxy s2… I’ve to admite that if galaxy s2 had a 2000mah battery and quad core I would have one… the first time I had a g5 in my hands I could not believe how well built it was….

This is a big disappointment…I was waiting for this phone so long and now they do this…I’m not buying it with lower resolution…but on the other hand, as I read here on Gizchina, they decided to add 850 and 900 MHz WCDMA frequency (great!) and are considering complaints about resolution…so maybe all is not lost

Wouldn’t mind the low resolution screen if they would up the memory to 2gb πŸ˜‰

Sh*t… G2F with 3G seems to be like a cheap F1, just with more powerful CPU… I think, it’ll be fail of the year for JiaYu, so I choose G2F TD-CDMA w|good screen resolution.
