xiaomi mipad tablet

With the first round of beta tests of the Xiaomi Mipad now over and done with we can now await the official release of the tablet on 1st July!

The Xiaomi MiPad Android tablet was the stuff of legends for months and was beginning to look nothing more than a myth when finally the Beijing phone maker made the official launch.

As with all Xiaomi products over the past 3 years, the MiPad blew us away by getting a Retina 7.9-inch display, an Nvidia Tegra K1 processor, 2GB RAM, room for a 128GB SD card, 6700mAh battery and even a decent pair of Sony 8 mega-pixel cameras.

Gizchina News of the week

Fans who were lucky enough to get a beta device after the launch only had to pay 1 Yuan for the tablet, obviously pricing has increased for the official launch but still quite a bargain at only 1499 Yuan.

According to Weibo posts this morning the Xiaomi MiPad will go on sale in China on 1st July, so keep your eye’s peeled for resellers offering the device in the coming weeks.

“Xiaomi release” in July 2014 equals “real world availability” in Q1-Q2 2015

Xiaomi don’t release products on a global scale. China is still their main market

My main concern is firmware and weather it will get updates as the redmi 1/1s/note now only get updates every 2 or 3 months. Also as much as i like xiaomi they do basically release products with beta firmware too, so bugs may be an issue.

July 1 seems too soon, especially without an official announcement from Xiaomi.
