Meizu boss shows off first official image of the Pro 6

meizu pro 6 leaked

Meizu aren’t taking a breather with bosses already posting the first official photo of the Meizu Pro 6 only a day after the M3 Note’s launch.

Meizu do make some odd decisions for their phones, but at least it keeps them an interesting phone maker to watch. Yesterday was a good example of this when the phone maker launched the M3 Note, which largely improves upon most aspects of the current Meizu Metal yet costs less.

Now today with less than 24 hours passing since the M3 Note launch Meizu bosses have revealed the first image of the Meizu Pro 6.

Arguably the Pro 6 is going to be in a different price range to the M3 Note, but it might still have customers hold off from their M3 Note purchase until the Pro 6 is official to keep their options open.

This first official image shows the new Meizu antenna design, and that interesting laser focus LED combo below the main camera.

i really like the overall view of the phone, but i wish of international firmware and support of custom roms. Put in Cyanogenmod v13 and just TAKE MY MONEY!

Flyme is what makes a Meizu phone so great, it’s the main thing that has me wanting the Pro 6.

use Multitasking in Flyme 5 and you will change your mind.. never back to Stock android after using Meizu MX5

After it was said to not be accurate, and the details, for instance, of the M3 Note were straight up wrong in several areas, is it not maybe time to put aside the so called roadmap? What little we can say is accurate in the roadmap we know from other sources, it didn’t break any news itself which wound up being true =/

Not to mention two different executives from Meizu said they weren’t using the Exnyos for Pro 6. It was even reported on this site.

I so want to like their phones, but using my mates one their ROM is awful. Every time you update the phone you have to reinstall all Google services from scratch. It’s a right pain in the arse and was enough to stop me from buying their max version last year.

        April 7, 2016

Not 100% sure but the India versions have Google’s services so things could get better on that front.

I have x600 and never have to reinstall anything after OTA updates.

        • Rob
          April 7, 2016

That’s odd, my mate certainly has to and it’s enough to stop him bothering with the last 2 updates and he also has the x600.

Maybe it depends on the way how google services were installed. I flashed them via TWRP recovery after purchase and never had any single problem since then.

Not seen that one before and wasn’t aware they even made phones. Guessing it will be as expensive as it is ugly.

            April 7, 2016

It would have to be like $20,000 to match the level of ugliness!

Looks ok. I would really like to try some of their products due to the nice value for money ratio, but no b20 and lack of Google services out of the box are just too much of a hassle.

Hopefully it will come with the same sensor as the Nexus 5x IMX377 with OIS and laser autofocus and on the audio side of things, it would be perfect if they could fit in the newest ESS9028 DAC with an TI Op-Amp!

    • balcobomber25
      April 7, 2016

I doubt it will be the 377. Given Meizu’s past the most likely sensor is the IMX 230 that was found on the Pro 5. Meizu takes an Apple like approach when it comes to cameras. They use the same sensor on multiple products and instead focus on better optimizing it for their models. If not the 230 I would bet either the 318 or 300.

    April 7, 2016

the specs above says Exynos 8890, and x25 only for Pro 6 mini

    • balcobomber25
      April 7, 2016

Meizu themselves have said they aren’t using the 8890.

  6. April 7, 2016

Great to see the Pro 6 details emerging but where is the MX 6? I was expecting it to come out ahead of the Pro 6

    • Guaire
      April 7, 2016

I guess Pro 6 is MX6 in all but name.

Probably its pricing will be more akin to MX5 rather than Pro 5.

    • balcobomber25
      April 7, 2016

I agree with Guaire I think they are gonna finally streamline their models and instead of having a Pro 6 and Mx6 there will be a few different versions of the Pro 6. Maybe a normal and a plus model.

  7. Allanitomwesh
    April 7, 2016

Is this the pro 6 or the MX6? Doesn’t the Pro line historically run Samsung Exynos chipset?

    • balcobomber25
      April 7, 2016

Meizu said they weren’t going to use it this time around because the Exnyos has limited network support. They are using X25.

        April 7, 2016

In the leaked roadmap image exynos is listed instead of X25 for Pro 6.

        • balcobomber25
          April 8, 2016

Yup and two Meizu executives have already said they aren’t using the Exnyos, both times it was reported on this site.

            April 12, 2016

Maybe there will be a Pro Premium?

            • balcobomber25
              April 12, 2016

We’ll see but Meizu made it pretty clear they won’t be using the Exnyos because it doesn’t support all Chinese networks. If there is a premium maybe it will have a larger 2k display.

      • Allanitomwesh
        April 8, 2016

Hmmn that’s unfortunate. Mediatek have terrible custom ROM support. Samsung aren’t much better but it’s at least doable.

        • balcobomber25
          April 8, 2016

I buy Meizu specifically for Flyme, that’s one phone I would never want a custom ROM.

          • Allanitomwesh
            April 14, 2016

Am afraid that ROM just never grew on me. I much prefer a more stock approach with minimal bloat like Oneplus Oxygen OS/Cyanogen OS/ Motorola/ Nexus

            • balcobomber25
              April 14, 2016

I am the opposite I hate Stock, I would take MIUI over any ROM.

  8. balcobomber25
    April 7, 2016

These were already leaked days ago including on this site. And you keep referencing that false roadmap which states the Pro 6 has the Exnyos, something Meizu (and you in your comments) already have said isn’t happening. Not to mention the Note 3 did already launch and several of the specs are flat out wrong in that “roadmap”.

    April 7, 2016

Well, is Pro 6 Mini real, or this was another fake info???

  10. Sere83
    April 7, 2016

A little baffled by this, is that not the note 3 in the second pic? So why is the pro 6 smaller? Only explanation can be they are not the same handset and the one in the second pic is actually the pro 6 mini. Have a bad feeling we will not see OIS again as well on these.

    April 8, 2016

So what’s up with that top picture anyway? It looks weird.. Like it’s two phones lying on top of each other or something. What’s going on there?

    • balcobomber25
      April 8, 2016

That’s the new antennae design plus the shadows that make it look like that.

      • Omer

Yeah, I know about the antenna design (I saw the other pics). But you have to admit: Those shadows look weird.

I like Meizu’s phones. But, people complain about FlymeOs’s late notifications, especially in Europa. So, i can’t make a choice. Meizu or Xiaomi?
