LG G6 is – for sure- one of the most anticipated flagship models of the year, alongside the Galaxy S8. Both phones are set to launch soon, during the next few months with their companies struggling to gain as much market share as possible after their inveilings.

Today a leaked image brings us news – that were already rumored- about LG G6’s main chipset and verifies that the Korean company will stick to theĀ Snapdragon 821 SoC instead of Snapdragon 835. The imageĀ was takenĀ at CES 2017 of a confidential LG presentation slide and proves that the Korean company decided to make a smart move in order to bypass a problem set by Samsung. Since the latter has already accumulated all the available Snapdragon 835 SoC’s until late April for the Galaxy S8 model, LG decided to go with last year’s SoC (SD821) and release its flagship almost one month before Samsung unveils theirs.
The leaked photo however reveals thatĀ the LG G6 will feature a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, dust and water-resistance, a quad DAC, and that its display will be named “Full Vision.” Not bad…
Not sure why this is such a big deal! The 821 is still a very well capable SoC! People think because it’s an “outdated” chip that it wont hold up but a lot of devices out there with these chips are still going strong.
My main reasons to get a SD835 is the longer battery life to have “the new model”. The SD821 is still a great CPU and you won’t be missing performance any time soon.
Yeah but my V10 can get a day and a half easy and it’s a much older chip. Not once have I had to replace anything on this phone nor I could chose to not have a case and the phone works like I bought yesterday. Mind you I purchased it when it was released in November 2015. I do hear what your saying but imo, the newer processors do have their advantages but it’s not really a factor for me when shopping for a new device.

To bad, it’s a nice looking phone, but I would not pay the price they want for a flagship for last year’s Soc. If they position it price wise much lower ( not 100 $ less than Samsung but $300 less or more), maybe. If not good luck selling it. Waiting to see what Sony announces at least one model should be with 835 and probably 4K display. If not will get a cheaper Chinese model. Samsung looks nice but the rumored price is way to high even for a high end phone.
