After several months from its first official announcement, the Xiaomi AI speaker goes finally on sale and sold out in just 23 seconds; that’s quite impressive, isn’t it?
What’s the Xiaomi AI speaker about, though? Well, just as the name implies, the speaker will use artificial intelligence to help you in your daily tasks. You can definitely see it as an alternative to Amazon’s Echo, Google’s Home and the likes.
What makes the Xiaomi speaker standout is its price, which is just 299Yuan (around $45) and that’s probably why it sold out in a matter of seconds. That said, Xiaomi didn’t actually reveal how many units were on sale, so it could be a few hundreds or thousands, we’ll probably never know.
On the hardware side, the AI speaker is packed with 6 microphones for a perfect 360-degree omnidirectional audio sensing and it will work hand-in-hand with the MIUI digital assistant released with the latest MIUI 9 OS. If you own one, you’ll be able to ask questions regarding the weather, news, measurements, ask it to set a reminder, alarm or timer, control your home automation devices, play music, audiobooks, podcasts, and more.

At this point in time we have no indication that the Xiaomi AI Speaker will ever be available globally, so we might never see it anywhere but China. We definitely hope it does get out though, as it’ll be a super appealing option with its really affordable $45 price tag.
