HMD Global has announced the availability of its latest and most basic Android Smartphone in South Africa, making it the second market to get the device after it first went on sale some days back in Russia. The Nokia 2 is exclusive to Vodacom South Africa, and it is immediately available for purchase via its retail stores across the country. It is priced at R1699/ $117 which is within the $115 recommended by the company at launch.

Targeted at users who are primarily first time users in the emerging markets, HMD Global aims to use the device to rake in more sales for its growing mobile phone lineup. The Nokia 2 much like other Nokia Android phones is encased in a metal frame milled out of series 6000 aluminum.
