Sharp AQUOS Zero Released Using Its Own OLED Display, SD845 & Android 9 Pie


Today, Sharp held a new product launch conference in Japan where it officially released its new flagship AQUOS zero. The AQUOS zero appeared at the International Consumer Electronics Show (IFA 2018) in Berlin, but Sharp did not announce the specific name of the smartphone at that time. One of the major highlights of this device is that it uses one of Sharp’s OLED display.

The Sharp AQUOS Zero comes with a 6.2-inch notched screen with a display resolution of 2992×1440 and an aspect ratio of 18.7:9. It has a 100% DCI-P3 wide color gamut, and HDR display. At the same time, the company stressed that Sharp AQUOS zero is the world’s lightest OLED flagship, weighing only 146g.

In appearance, the Sharp AQUOS zero frame is made of magnesium alloy, and the back is crafted from carbon fiber. It is equipped with a single camera 22.6MP rear camera and it also has a rear fingerprint recognition sensor. For selfies, the company provided an 8MP sensor.

In terms of configuration, the Sharp AQUOS zero is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor (Kryo 385 GPU and Adreno 630 GPU) coupled with 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage of internal storage.  This smartphone runs on Android 9 Pie and its lights are kept on by a 3130 mAh battery.

In addition, Sharp AQUOS zero supports IP68 dust and water resistance, Dolby Vision image display, and Dolby Atmos stereo. The smartphone is expected to be available for sale in Japan in the winter of 2018.
