The update to the latest version of the green robot is officially available for ASUS ZenFone 5, while several other ZenFone smartphones are receiving a new software update with patches and corrections.

The installation package for ASUS ZenFone 5 is available on the official website of the manufacturer and brings the stable and final version of Android 9 Pie.

If you do not want to wait for the update notification OTA, you can download the 1.1 GB package directly into the device microSD from this address. Once the smartphone is restarted in recovery mode you only need to select “apply updates from microSD” to proceed with the installation of Android 9 Pie.

As for the other smartphone of the ZenFone family, ASUS has released a new software update for ZenFone Max Plus M1, ZenFone 4 Max and ZenFone Max Pro M1.

ZenFone Max Plus only receives the November security patches, while the other two receive, in addition to the December security patches, some improvements to the camera, Wi-Fi and compatibility with third-party applications.

To recall, Android 9 Pie was released in August and arrived first on Google’s own Pixel smartphones and then on Essential Phone. The update has since been pushed to devices from brands like OnePlus and HMD Global as well. According to Google’s own distribution numbers, the Android Pie update is yet to register while Android Oreo and Nougat command a market share of 21.5 percent and 28.2 percent respectively.
