Huawei Mate 40 renders show a rear sub-display and five cameras

After the release of the Huawei P40 series, the next flagship from Huawei should be the Huawei Mate 40 series. Like its predecessors, the Mate 40 series should arrive towards the end of the year. Although there is no official information on this device for now, the first set of renders is now available. The recent render is a complete deviation from consumers’ perception of Huawei mobile phones. The recent render of the Huawei Mate 40 shows that this smartphone will come with a unique design. This time, the design is different from the past and it is very attractive.

Huawei Mate 40

First, let us look at the camera. The Huawei Mate 40 comes with a Penta camera setup. Four camera sensors and one flash are in a matrix compartment. However, there is another camera below the matrix. Looking at the “100X” inscription beside the lone camera, this independent sensor should be a telephoto lens.

Of course, the biggest feature of the back design is the new secondary screen design. As you can see from the figure, this secondary screen will display the time, power, wifi, alarm clock, and network signals. Of course, I believe that this sub-screen also has more functions, such as a self-timer, viewfinder, etc. This is the first time we will have such a design from Huawei. However, it is not entirely new to the smartphone industry. Remember the Meizu Pro 7? It comes with a similar secondary rear screen. Although, in the Meizu Pro 7, the dual rear cameras are embedded on the secondary display.

Over now to the display, we can easily notice the 3D curve display on the side – more like the Huawei Mate 30 Pro. Furthermore, we can see that there is no notch or punch-hole. As of now, speculations claim that the company will use an under-display camera. However, the under-display camera technology is still in development. It may not be feasible for Huawei to use this feature. The best bet will be a pop-up camera design which will not be a bad idea.

Overall, this version of Huawei Mate 40 is still very stunning and the design is creative. It has a full sense of technology. Obviously, Huawei fans will be happy to see this design. However, Huawei has a lot of “enemies” (mostly from the U.S. judging from recent events). These “enemies” will most-likely criticize the design

In all, Huawei fans should not get too excited yet. This is only a render image and it may be a far cry from the real deal
