With the smartphone market getting more aggressive, companies are trying to bring as much value as possible to the budget and mid-range segments. It’s becoming hard to differentiate between flagship and mid-range in terms of value for money. With that said, Samsung is now planning to bring Optical Image Stabilization to its mid-range Galaxy A lineup. It looks like the Galaxy A72 is going to the first device to do so. This is not the first time we’re hearing about this new move by the brand. A couple of months ago, we saw similar reports surfacing on the web.

Galaxy A72 to arrive with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS)

For those who’re unaware, Optical Image Stabilization or OIS delivers much sharper photos and videos. In essence, it eliminates blur. The technique makes use of the gyro sensor that is placed on the camera so that lens can move in the opposite direction. This will minimize the shakiness ultimately resulting in sharper images. To improve the quality even further, companies use enhanced software processing technique as well.

With Chinese smartphone manufacturers offering smartphones at aggressive pricing, Samsung might now be planning to implement more features. OIS would definitely be a nice addition considering it is far better than the Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS). Samsung already has faced some sale issues with its latest Galaxy S20 flagship lineup, mainly due to coronavirus. The other possible reason could be the fact that consumers are now more concerned about the increasing flagship prices while mid-range, on the other hand, looks pocket friendly.

We even saw Samsung launching Galaxy S Lite and Galaxy Note Lite smartphones to bring flagship experience to the masses. Even Apple decided to launch a cheaper iPhone SE at a price tag of $399. If Galaxy A72 is coming with OIS, then we should definitely expect the same to happen with A82 and A92.

Launch not gonna happen until 2021

Well, since A72 is company’s 2021 Galaxy A smartphone, the launch is not gonna happen until next year. This means that we have a large amount of time in our hands meaning more info should arrive in the coming months. Apart from this, Samsung is also working on a cheaper affordable Galaxy Tablet, most likely to be called Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2020). It has already made its way to the GeekBench listing and you can find more details about it right here.
