A Chinese insider known as Digital Chat Station gave the characteristics of a promising Huawei smartphone – Nova 8. It is reported to be the world’s first device running the MediaTek Dimensity 700 platform, introduced a couple of days ago.
The most interesting thing is that the next Huawei devices should be nova 8 and nova 8 Pro, and if the nova 8 is really built on the Dimensity 700, then such a smartphone will in no way be called a budget flagship.
In addition to the Dimensity 700, the smartphone will arrive with a 6.5-inch Full HD + screen with a 60 Hz frame rate and a single front 16-megapixel camera, a 4000 mAh battery with 40W fast charging support and a main camera with 48, 8, 2 and 2 megapixels sensors. In general, the characteristics of this model are on the border of entry-level and intermediate-level solutions, which hardly correspond to the status of nova 8.
Meanwhile, an insider confirmed the announcement of the nova 8 and nova 8 Pro in December. Recall, according to rumors, these models were supposed to debut this month.
Huawei nova 8 series / Honor V40 series
Despite the numerous challenges that Huawei currently faces, it is doing a lot to boost its smartphone business. According to reports, in the next few months, there will be a plethora of Huawei smartphones. There are reports that the company will release the Huawei nova 8 series. In addition, the Honor V40 series will also hit public domain. However, with the official confirmation of Honor sales, the Honor V40 will be a doubt.
A recent leak shows the rear design of the Honor V40 series and the nova 8 series. According to Huawei’s practice in previous years, both Huawei and Honor will release new phones in December. Looking at the images, it appears that these devices will use a gimbal main camera and multiple auxiliary cameras. The design ideas of the lens and the arrangement method are basically the same, which are all familiar shapes.

In other respects, the new Huawei nova 8 series will also launch two versions of nova 8 and nova 8 Pro. These smartphones will continue to use an OLED punch-hole display. Furthermore, the display will have a 120Hz refresh rate which is the new standard for many Android flagships.
In terms of hardware configuration, this series may use the Kirin 9000 series processors. However, due to well-known reasons, this year’s Kirin 9000 chips are likely to be insufficient for the Mate40 series. Thus, there may not be room for other smartphones to use this chip. As a result, the media believes that the nova 8 series will be forced to use the Kirin 990 SoC.
As for the Honor V40, the series will launch three models: V40, V40 Pro, and V40 Pro+. At least one of these devices will come with a 6.72-inch dual punch-hole display with a curved screen (FHD+ resolution). It supports a 120Hz high refresh screen and should use Kirin 9000 processor. However, may also have to settle for the Kirin 990 for the same reason as the nova 8 series.
If the speculation is true, this phone will become the first Honor phone to support a 120Hz refresh rate. The V40 and V40Pro versions will support a 90Hz refresh rate and uses a MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ processor. In addition, the smartphone will also support 66W wired fast charging and 40W wireless charging. From rumors, the Huawei nova8 series and the Honor V40 series will arrive in December. We will have to wait a few weeks and see what happens.
