iQOO 8

iQOO fans in Shanghai can visit today and until August 2 the iQOO booth at the ChinaJoy convention. During the event, the iQOO 8 has been stealthily marking its presence at the company’s booth. There is some photo evidence of several people that managed to get their hands on the upcoming iQOO flagship. Of course, the smartphone is inside a case to hide its design. So we don’t have a leak that reveals it in all its glory. However, with the official announcement going on August 4, we don’t need to wait much time to know it.

These, of course, are unofficial glimpses of the upcoming flagship. However, the company pushed an official teaser for the flagship. That’s the first promo content we get from the upcoming smartphone. Its focuses on the display and apparently the new smartphone will come with a high-resolution HDR panel that offers a refresh rate higher than 120 Hz.

It may be a 144 Hz refresh, but past leaks have been suggesting something above. The device will have a curved display, so we can confirm that it’s an OLED panel. After all, it’s no easy to get these curves on LCD screens. Moreover, the iQOO 8 is a premium smartphone.

Gizchina News of the week

According to rumors, the iQOO 8 will revolutionize the market in terms of fast charging. iQOO has impressed its users in China by showing the 120 W charging system at its booth. However, the iQOO 8 is rumored to go even further this amount, to 160 W fast-charging. Of course, this is unconfirmed information at the moment. We need to wait for more consistent leaks or even a confirmation from the company until the August 4 event.

Under the hood, the iQOO 8 is said to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Plus. It will be the first commercially available smartphone to sport Qualcomm’s latest flagship. As usual, this is a Snapdragon 888 on steroids. The handset will also come with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of Internal Storage. According to the leakster Digital Chat Station, the device will pack a 3,200 x 1,440 resolution which puts it on the QHD+ category. This year flagship devices are returning to QHD+ resolutions, and the Snapdragon 888 Plus should provide some extra performance for that. As per the leakster, this panel uses Samsung E5 LTPO AMOLED.

We expect more details to emerge in the next few days. Anyway, official confirmation will come on August 4. The device will hit the Chinese market and there is no word on global availability for now. It may hit other markets until the end of the year.
