Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 Preview – a truly full-screen smartphone

Over the past two years, there have been a plethora of foldable smartphones in the market. The most popular of these foldable smartphones are obviously those from Huawei and Samsung. This is why when we talk about foldable smartphones, the first brands that come to mind are Samsung and Huawei. The Huawei Mate X series was so popular that it was very difficult to get one. However, Samsung is actually the first to release and mass-produce a foldable smartphone. We can consider Samsung as a leader in this field because its solution is pretty mature. On August 11, the company will hold a new Galaxy product launch. The upcoming products are Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3.

As the official launch of this device draws closer, let us take a look at the preview of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3. From the reports so far, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 will have three colour options. The colours include milky white, dark green, and matte black. Like the previous generation, the single screen of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is still very narrow and looks very slender. However, when the smartphone fully unfolds, the overall screen-to-body ratio is quite amazing. This flagship foldable smartphone will have a strong visual impact.

Gizchina News of the week

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 will come with a 7.5-inch foldable flexible screen. According to reports, this display will support an ultra-high refresh rate of 144Hz. Considering the refresh rate as well as Samsung’s excellent screen, this display should bring an unprecedented smoothness. After folding this device, the front display will be a 6.3-inch screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and an on-screen fingerprint sensor.

This device also comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC which trails the SD888+ in performance. However, since there is enormous space in a foldable phone, the SD888 may have proper heat dissipation which will boost its performance. Thus, the performance of the SD888 on the Z Fold3 may not be much different from the SD888+.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 will come with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. However, like ZTE’s fusion technology, the Galaxy Z Fold3 may have a memory expansion technology that will take the RAM size to 16GB. However, this technology may be exclusive to the Chinese market.

Under the hood, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 comes with a 4500 mAh battery that supports 25W fast charging. In addition, Galaxy Z Fold 3 will add Samsung’s traditional stylus to facilitate recording meetings and important events. It is worth noting that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will be the first Samsung mobile phone to use an under-screen camera.

As for its price, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 will start from 1,900,000 won ($1,652). The current pricing confirms that Samsung will reduce the price of the latest foldable smartphones. For reference, the previous generation Galaxy Z Fold2 starts at 2,398,000 won ($2,085). If this price is true, it means that the new foldable smartphone will be about 20% cheaper.

As of now, two ZTE models including the recently released Axon 30 Pro uses the under-screen camera technology. The Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 will arrive a day before the Z Fold3. As of now, there are only two smartphones globally that use this technology and both are from ZTE. However, this number will increase to four in a few days.
