Pixel Watch vs Apple Watch: huge difference on the inside

Pixel Watch vs Apple Watch

Google is currently releasing a range of products to compete in the device market. The company recently unveiled the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro series. Google lacked a market niche to enter until recently, and that market niche was smartwatches with the new Pixel Watch.

Google lays the foundation for its upcoming generation of smartwatches with the introduction of the Pixel Watch. We have had the opportunity to see how iFixit has opened the watch and… what we have seen, if we compare it with an Apple Watch, leaves a lot to be desired.

There are many issues inside the Pixel Watch

Excited by a possible Google brand smartwatch, we would all think that the prices were going to be better, but nothing could be further from the truth. The prices for this device are a bit high. Especially if we compare the interior.

While it is true that the device seems exciting from the outside, the watch crown seems cheap at first glance and the screen, AMOLED, seems to have questionable durability, according to some analyzes that have been made by the network.

As we can see in the images below, the Pixel Watch in the inside seems much simpler, more standard in its manufacture than the Apple Watch, since as soon as the device is opened, the battery is visible to the naked eye and it does not have the final care that Apple has.

Another notable aspect of the disassembly is trying to disassemble the battery and the screen. In this case, you have to disconnect quite a few connectors. And force the battery a bit (with the damage that we can cause with this).

At the bottom of the body, there would be the battery and screen connectors. That we can disconnect from the watch. Making disassembling the device a bit difficult and not very accessible.

All the side cables, which go to the mechanical inputs of the crown and the side button, are attached to the same cable, so they are attached to the case. Therefore, we cannot replace the stuck switches individually, at least without damaging the rest.

We can be very critical, but we must remember that it is the first generation of the Google device. The same thing happened with the Pixels. Which made phones that were not perfect. But had very remarkable features and, over time, they got better at the rest.

Let’s hope therefore that the Pixel Watch in this regard is the same as its sibling phones. While it is true that we cannot compare the watch with the Apple Watch, neither for price nor for years of development, we can say that it is fine for a first generation.
