The new leak about the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 comes from a leakster named Meeco. According to his leak, the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC will come with a “1+5+2” three-cluster CPU design. This design will improve the power consumption of this chip by 20% and the super-large core is the Cortex X4. Looking at this score, it will be a new king in the block when it arrives. The current Apple A16 Bionic SoC scores 1877 (single core) and 5447 (multi core) on GeekBench. As for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, it scores 1495 (single core) and 5007 (multi core) on GeekBench. In other words, the Snapdragon 8 Gen3 finally puts the Apple A16 under its feet.

However, there is no need for pre-mature joy from the Android camp for a couple of reasons. This is only an engineering model which means that the chip performance can go either way – up or down. Also, the official launch of this chip is still several months away. Thus, its competition has time to fine-tune their chips.
