Sony is said to have listed the Last of Us Part 3 title as “In Development” in an internal interview. But there’s more to this story. Sony’s Masajasu Ito previously stated that the PS5’s life cycle would be seven years. TechWafer’s report on PlayStation 6 also suggests the console will release between 2026 and 2027. As a result, we can anticipate that this game will be ready for players in three to four years.

Will there be a Last of Us Part 3?

For months, there has been speculation about whether a third installment of Naughty Dog’s franchise, The Last of Us, will be released. We now finally have enough data to state that the game is under development. However, there is no official statement from a representative or spokesperson for the time being.

Paul Tassi, a journalist for Forbes, said something similar: “Timing would fit. The first part of The Last of Us was released in June 2013. Two was released in June 2020, but the studio was still developing Uncharted 4 and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. So yes, a potential release in 2026 would fit the third part and HBO’s apparently plans for the second series.”

It is speculated that the game’s setting will be some years after The Last of Us: Part II events. Part 3 will start involving Ellie’s journey as she seeks revenge for Joel’s death. There could be both new locations and returning ones from previous games, such as Jackson County from The Last of Us.
