Samsung Galaxy S23 FE: Is Samsung Putting an End to its Fan Edition Phones?

Samsung Galaxy S23 FE

Samsung is known for its flagships like Galaxy S23 Ultra and S22 Ultra, but it also releases “FE” or Fan Edition versions. These devices are budget-friendly, with some features similar to their flagship counterparts. Fans have been waiting for next gen Galaxy FE since the launch of The Galaxy S21 FE back in January 2022.

Rumors about the upcoming release of the Galaxy S22 FE were widespread, but then those rumors shifted to the possibility of a Galaxy S23 FE. However, the latest news suggests that the Galaxy S23 FE may not happen at all.

The Bad News for Fan Edition Consumers

Renowned leakster Roland Quandt, known for his reliable insider information, recently tweeted that it “doesn’t look like” there will be a Galaxy S23 FE this year or even in the future.

Despite conflicting reports about the release of the S23 FE, it’s safe to assume that Quandt would have some information about the handset’s launch if it were happening soon. The lack of information regarding the S23 FE suggests not just this one, but we might not get to see another FE from Samsung soon.

The Possible Reasons and Future of Fan Edition

Samsung is not comfortable with stats of its two previous Fan Edition models. It appears that Samsung would prefer consumers to purchase a mid-range A-series device or a previous year’s flagship model for a similar budget rather than opting for the FE version.

It’s still too early to tell what Samsung’s plans are for the Fan Edition series. Samsung may release the Galaxy S23 FE at a later date or decide to discontinue the series altogether. There’s high probability that company may discontinue the FE lineup, considering the situation.

There have been rumors that Samsung may skip the release of the Galaxy A74 in favor of the Galaxy S23 FE. However, with the uncertain fate of the S23 FE, it’s possible that Samsung may decide to only release the Galaxy A54 and the base Galaxy S23 as their upper-mid-range and entry-level high-end smartphones for 2023.
