The king is coming! POCO F5 will be launched on April 6

POCO F5

The POCO F-series usually is one of the most hyped lineups in the smartphone segment. Of course, this is the fruit of the appeal brought back in the Pocophone F1 days. Nowadays, POCO is mostly a brand that makes rebrands of existing Redmi or Xiaomi phones. Anyway, it tends to be the only offer of certain phones for international users. The POCO F5 and POCO F5 Pro are being expected with great anticipation. The latter may come as a rebadged Redmi K60 which is exclusive to China. The second seems to be a rebranding of the unreleased Redmi Note 12 Turbo. As per a new report the POCO F5 5G with the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 will launch on April 6.

The reign begins on April 6

As per the new report, it seems that the POCO F5 will be launched in India in just a few weeks from now. Unlike the previous generations, it seems that the POCO F5 will not bring a Snapdragon 800 series CPU. Instead, we will have the brand new Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2. The chipset is not too far from the flagship performance, anyway. As we’ve said above, the device will be a version of the Redmi Note 12 Turbo. We expect the Redmi Note 12 Turbo to get a release in the next few days. Thus it will prepare the way for the POCO F5 release in India and global markets.

Redmi Note 12

Although the report mentions India, we are pretty sure that the phone will also land in international markets on the same date. The POCO X5 and POCO X5 Pro were launched in international markets while the Indian market received the Pro variant on the same date. A few days ago, the Indian market got the vanilla variant. So, the release for the POCO F5 shouldn’t be much different.

POCO F5 alleged specifications

Considering the Redmi Note 12 Turbo leaks, we know what to expect from the POCO F5. As per the leaks, the POCO F5 will have a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. That’s a common spot for Xiaomi. The phone will also have a Full HD+ resolution and an in-display fingerprint scanner. This will be a first for the Redmi Note 12 family since all other devices have side-mounted scanners. Of course, the same feature will be present on the POCO F5.

The POCO F5 will also impress with a 5,500 mAh battery with 67W fast charging. The device will also get a 50 MP Main camera, and an 8 MP ultrawide shooter. We expect a third 2 MP decorative sensor of some sort, maybe a macro or a depth sensor. The device will likely run Android 13 with MIUI 14 running atop.

F5 Pro

We are curious to see whether the F5 Pro will tag alongside, or whether April 6 will exclusive for the POCO F5. As per the leaks, the Pro is a rebadged Redmi K60. That means it will bring the same 6.67-inch OLED display, but the resolution will be a bit higher at 3,200 x 1,440px. That’s the fancy 1.5K resolution trending across Chinese brands. The device will also pack the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC with up to 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of Internal Storage – We don’t know if all variants will make their way to global markets though.

Redmi K60 the alleged POCO F5 Pro

The F5 Pro should retain the 64 MP main camera with OIS, 8 MP ultrawide, and 2 MP macro sensor. The device also brings stereo speakers, Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth 5.3. It brings the same 5,500 mAh battery with 67W fast charging. The biggest difference should be the 30W wireless charging that shouldn’t be available with the vanilla POCO F5.

We expect POCO to begin a campaign of teasers ahead of the launch. So stay tuned for more about the F5 series.
