Pixel Tablet spotted on special Google event

A few years ago, the Android tablet segment was really boring. We had just a few brands competing for the preference of users, without much demand. With the pandemic, these large-sized devices started to become more relevant. We saw the rise of Chinese brands, that after years of sticking only with smartphones, launched their very first tablets. Even Google realized the time it has lost and decided to make Android more useful on these larger screens. That gave birth to Android 12L, a special version with some goodies for foldable and tablets. With Android 13, the features keep coming and we also expect Android 14 to further optimize the experience on tablets. When it comes to the search giant, we all know that it launches products to promote its software experiences. After the Pixel Watch, Google is set to unveil a new Pixel Tablet.

Pixel Tablet color options spotted

The Pixel smartphones are here to promote Android, to promote Google Services, and software solutions. With the rise of a new WearOS, we saw Google unveiling its first Pixel Watch. Now that Android is getting better on tablets, what is better than launching a new tablet? The Pixel Tablet is rumored to come at the Google I/O in the next month. We also expect the Pixel 7a series, and anything besides it will be a good extra. Considering its “imminent” launch the Pixel Tablet is already making rounds on the web. In fact, even Google provided a detailed introduction of its upcoming slate. Ahead of its release, somebody captured a video in real life at Google’s “Shaped by Water” installation.

Google Pixel

In the Instagram video from Saori Masuda, it’s possible to see various Google Pixel devices. That includes some Pixel Tablets, Pixel Watches, Pixel Buds, and Pixel phones.

The video will not disclose all details of the Pixel Tablet. In fact, if you’ve been following the leaks, there shouldn’t be any surprise. Google already revealed the tablet and charging dock design. The new info is about the colors. The Pixel Tablet will sell in pinkish coral, gray/white, and a darker gray. As per 9to5Google, there is also a fourth color. The report also states that there is no privacy switch to turn off the microphone and camera.

The Verge tried to contact Google, but the search giant did not respond yet. Even so, the source believes in a launch at the Google I/O. If it does not happen, we will probably see the product being demoed at the developer fair.

Google I/O was not the place for massive releases, but that can change this year. There are rumors about the Pixel Tablet, the Pixel 7a, and even the Pixel Foldable. According to the rumors, the Pixel Foldable can also see the light of day in 2023. We would not hold our breath for an I/O release, a device of this… “magnitude” is likely to appear along with the next generation of Pixel phones. Of course, that’s just speculation right now.

Other details

Google Pixel Tablet

We expect more details to keep popping out in the upcoming days. As per the reports, the Pixel Tablet will be an expensive tablet. The popular Roland Quandt states that the Google Pixel Tablet will cost between €600 to €650. That is about $658 to $710. That is way more than the Google Pixel 7 which starts at $599 in the US and €649 in Europe. However, this is a tablet and it obviously will cost more. Of course, the whole package is more expensive if you want to grab the charging dock.

The look and some of the features like the charging dock that doubles as a speaker are available. However, the technical details are still a mystery. We don’t know the size of the display and most of its technical details. We know it will pack the Tensor G2 processor and will have 6 GB or 8 GB of RAM with 128 GB or 256 GB of Storage. The slate will also support a stylus and will bring Android 13.
