After many rumors and leaks, it’s official, the MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ is coming on May 10. This may sound like an early release, but to recall, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and the Dimensity 9000+ were also presented before the third quarter of 2022. This new chipset is expected to be MediaTek’s response to a possible Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2. At the same time, it will pose a better threat to the current SD8 Gen 2.
MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ will be a slight upgrade for new flagships
We expect the platform to be a slight upgrade over the Dimensity 9200. The same happened with the Dimensity 9000 and 9000+. The Plus variant got a higher clock for the CPU core and the GPU. The architecture, core division, memory, and process technology were the same. We don’t expect Mediatek or Qualcomm to shift to the 3nm this year, so this will probably be a 4nm chipset. Of course, we won’t discard possible surprises.

If that is the case, the MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ will bring the 4nm FinFET. There will be one Cortex-X3 core unit, 3 x ARM Cortex A715 cores, and 4 x ARM Cortex-A510 cores. The GPU should also be the fancy Immortalis-G715 MC11. Besides the reveal of the Dimensity 9200+, we can also expect other minor releases in the Dimensity line.
In fact, Realme will also hold an event on May 10. So it’s possible that the company will tease a flagship device with the MediaTek Dimensity 9200+. Also, the Realme 11 Pro+ is rumored to pack a Dimensity 7000 series chipset. Since the leaked specs are a bit off what the Dimensity 7200 has, it could be an all-new chipset.
Vivo was one of the brands betting on MediaTek for its flagships. The Vivo X90 and X90 are available across the globe and made their debut in India recently. These phones pack the Dimensity 9200 in a market crowded with SD8 Gen 2 offerings. The brand is rumored to stick with this partnership for the Vivo X90S Pro, iQOO Neo 8 Pro, and iQOO 11S. These phones probably will pack the Dimensity 9200+.
