OpenAI has just introduced something new and powerful, ChatGPT Agent. This upgraded version of ChatGPT is built to take real actions on your behalf. It doesn’t just answer questions anymore; it can now do things for you.
“ChatGPT Agent carries out tasks using its own virtual computer, fluidly shifting between reasoning and action to handle complex workflows from start to finish, all based on your instructions,” said OpenAI
What Is ChatGPT Agent?
ChatGPT Agent is a superior version of ChatGPT that performs tasks more intelligently using instructions that users give. It comes with features of OpenAI’s operator tool and ChatGPT’s smooth, human-like conversation, which enables the agent to think through problems and take action. Simply put, you tell it what to do, and it gets to work.
ChatGPT Agent can assist with the preparation of daily tasks that are usually time-consuming. This includes rescheduling meetings, updating spreadsheets, making slides for a presentation, and writing research summaries or reports.
It doesn’t end there; it goes as far as helping with personal planning. Want to take a trip? Just give it an idea of what you want, and it can plan the whole thing, from flights and hotels to activities, in one go. It can even book appointments for you if connected to the right services.
How Does It Work?
ChatGPT Agent has been trained using tools that allow it to carry out multiple activities. It can browse the internet (using a text or visual browser), use code tools and terminals, and gather and use data from different services.
You can also link it to your accounts on platforms like Gmail or GitHub, so it can find information or perform tasks directly within those services. It doesn’t need to ask you every step of the way. It reasons, plans, and acts, all in one smooth flow.
Who Can Use It?
Right now, ChatGPT Agent is rolling out slowly. It’s available first to Pro users, while Plus and Team plan users will get access by Monday. Once available, you’ll see a new agent mode in the tools menu inside ChatGPT.
