While it’s been raining quad-core and full HD smartphones, here’s one which breaks the routine – the ZTE Switch X1. The device was spotted at the WiFi certification database, where we take a look at its specs sheet.

ZTE are currently the 5th largest phone makers in the world, and with the growing interested in wearable technology they hope to become number 1.

Although ZTE is somewhat a known brand in the US market thanks to low cost dongles and entry-level smartphones, the country hasn’t yet witnessed any of ZTE’s high-end smartphones. However, this is all set to change this month.

The Nubia brand was introduced this year as a flagship ZTE phone brand, and they tend to keep to focusing on the high-end with a new Snapdragon 800 device this November.

ZTE have stuck by their word and have just launched the Nvidia Tegra 4 powered ZTE Geek on the Chinese market at an incredible $308!

ZTE have shipped out sample and review units of the ZTE U988S, which they are claiming to be the world’s first Tegra 4 powered handset.

If you asked me yesterday which sub 2000 Yuan phone you should buy the answer would have been a Xiaomi Mi2S, today though the Nubia Z5 mini might be my answer!
