Freakbox, the Rockchip powered Android TV box that developers from the FreakTab community put together is now up for pre-order for a reduces price!

A group of devs from popular community FreakTab have gone on to make their on Android TV box, the Freakbox that will retail for $149!

It has now come to fore that the company has managed to procure appropriate licenses to be able to use the current most advanced ARM instruction sets and architectures. Rockchip are now eligible to use the ARM Cortex-A57, Cortex-A53, Cortex-A12 architectures on their upcoming series of chipsets, the RK32xx.

Rockchip bosses have confirmed that the semiconductor fabrication company is working on more powerful next-gen quad core processors, which will be succeeding their current RK3188 series.

If you have ever used a Chinese tablet then the chances are it uses one of Rockchips processor’s. We tested the Pipo M1 last year with a quad-core Rockchips CPU and it was great! And for 2013 the Chinese chip maker has the new RK3188 ready for launch.
