Although this straddling bus design looks like the product of a very bored imagination and has as much chance to be made as a chocolate radiator, this ‘Straddling’ bus design is actually in the planning phase of production.

The design put forward by Shenzhen Hashi Future Parking Co. Ltd is designed to travel on current roads at speeds of up to 60Km/h carrying 1200-1400 passengers at a time, that would be otherwise blocking the roads in cars.

Despite rumors to the contrary the solar/electric hybrid powered traffic straddler does exactly what it says on the tin straddling traffic rather than swallowing up and carrying cars. Thus allowing the bus and passengers to glide 4-4.5 meters above the road allowing cars to either pass underneath unhindered or allow drivers to scowl at the lucky passengers passing over a rush hour traffic jam.
