Meizu MX6 packaging spied, due to launch 20th June

meizu mx6 leak

If you thought Meizu only had one smartphone launch planned for this month then think again as a leaked image suggests the Meizu MX6 could make an appearance this month too.

So far this year Meizu have launched the Meizu M3, M3 Note and Pro 6, and next week the Zhuhai based manufacturer will release the M3S, but that might not be all for this month.

Gizchina News of the week

Well known Chinese tipster @KJUMA over on Weibo, known for posting some pretty accurate leaks in the past, has posted an image of a box bearing the Meizu MX6 branding.

The tipster goes on to say that Meizu are planning to release the MX6 on the 20th June and that the phone, priced at 1799 Yuan, will feature a FHD pressure sensetive display, Mediatek Helio X20 (X25) chipset, 8 mega-pixel front camera, 20.7 mega-pixel rear and options for either 3GB RAM + 32GB storage or 4GB RAM +64GB storage.

Meizu thinks that it is Apple 🙂 Meizu doesn’t give high-end specs because Flyme is better optimized that other Android gadgets. 😛

        :’)

7 months for release international version of Flyme 5 for MX4 with poor quality audio and lot of bugs

Xiaomi update the phones every week , ALL.

        P.S.
I have an HTC One A9

I have received at least one updated every month with the MX5, in fact just received one last week. Sometimes there have been 2 a month.

Yup my M1 Note gets one a week still. Flyme 5 is a huge improvement in all areas over what the phone shipped with. If you look at the Meizu fans website under firwares you will see all the phones released from the MX 4 onwads get constant updates.

A lot of the issues I had with the software were fixed in Flyme 5.

You are still talking about A roms. It is not true on global or international roms. I use both, international roms suck! Late updated and a lot of bugs…

            • balcobomber25
              June 12, 2016

Which is why I use the A rom. They are much better with it.

            June 11, 2016

You are talking about A firmware. A firmwares do not cantain international languages. Last year Meizu deleted international languages from their A roms. If you don’t know English you have to use international rom. And International roms don’t get updates regularly and have lots of bugs. In addtion, as an interesting and stupid progress, Meizu dissabled root option on latest G roms.

They should have used the Exynos in the Pro 6, but greed got the best of them.

With leeco phones with similar specs, it’s just not worth it at 1799 yuan… It’s mostly an mx5 with a newer soc and a highly useless force touch

    • MaxPower
      June 11, 2016

That’s exactly a MX5 with a newer SoC but the thing that still blows my mind is the Pro 6 which offers not much more for a lot of more money.

yow i am so confused with meizu’s intentions

      • balcobomber25
        June 11, 2016

You could make that argument for most of the new flagships today.

        • MattD
          June 11, 2016

As you already know (I’m sure you do), that’s just how this industry works: small overall incremental improvements every year! That’s why things got a bit boring lately: thay just can’t bring all of the innovation in one year, otherwise there may not be enough improvements for the following year… So you end up thinking the way you did about s6 vs s7, or the marketing could make you think “well, better camera, bigger battery, microsd support, ip certification ecc ecc… It must be worth those extra 400$!”

This bring me to the point: you must improve the overall if you want to keep selling something, but just a newer soc is just not enough!

          • balcobomber25
            June 12, 2016

Meizu did those same incremental changes as most other flagships this year. New Soc, Gorilla Glass 4 instead of 3, new design, 10 LED Flash, Force Touch. But they did something no other brand did this year, they recognized that the phone wasn’t a major upgrade over the previous one and they sold it for cheaper than the previous model. The Pro 5 launched for 2799 for the base model, Pro 6 launched for 2499.

Overall most flagships as a whole this year have been disappointing.

            • MattD
              June 12, 2016

I agree about meizu’s admission with pricing, but while this year in particular flagships aren’t that much of a improvement in general, meizu did even less than that, both with pro 6 and maybe with the mx6 if rumors are true. I still hope that mx6 will have a bigger battery in order to justify the price difference from leeco le2, but in general it’ll still be a little improvement over the past year

            • balcobomber25
              June 12, 2016

The LE2, is a LE1s with a new SoC and no headphone jack. Terrible decision by them.

              June 12, 2016

Terrible decision indeed, and I would have liked some more innovation, but at that price I can deal with it, while at 1799 yuan it seems more unfair… Maybe that’s just me, but the price does have a certain weight in the matter!

            • balcobomber25
              June 12, 2016

Without a headphone jack I wouldn’t buy it for 799 yuan Never mind 1799. Probably the second most important thing on a phone tp me

        • MaxPower
          June 11, 2016

True in general,i would have said Letv Le1 and Le2), I disagree with S6 and S7 example since S6 was the real innovation last year and maxed out the competitors and for this reason there’s no much they can improve with the S7.

MI4 and MI5 didn’t follow this rule either. MI4C and MI4S is also plastic vs metal, + fingerprint scanner, bigger battery, better camera sensor, bigger storage…

Meizu literally upgraded the SoC and not much more.

I know that you have a special eye for them, but this MX6 and Pro 6 don’t make any sense to me even if you said that numbers proved me wrong.

          • balcobomber25
            June 12, 2016

It’s not having a special eye for them as I don’t like a lot of their budget phones, I don’t just get into the whole “They used a Mediatek instead of a Exnyos SoC so it’s not a true Flagship” which is this argument most people here will try to make. You specifically talk about how the Mi4C and Mi4s used different materials in the build, Pro 6 has Gorilla Glass 4, Pro 5 has Gorilla Glass 3. Most of the components on those two phones are either exactly the same or a marginal upgrade like Pro 5 and Pro 6. Same with the S6 and S7. This MX6 makes no sense to me, I have no clue what Mediatek is doing. I have no allegiance to them either way, I just think the Pro 6 is a very good phone especially considering they did something no other flagship did this year: they sold it for less than the previous model.

      • MattD
        June 11, 2016

Yeah, actually i just pretend pro 6 does not exist and wait for a real pro 6 with exynos and everything

    • Alvaro Molata
      June 12, 2016

Better CPU, better camera, and we ain’t see the final design yet, that’s what every smartphone usually upgrades every year, it’s hard to revolutionate things, especially at that price

      • SnowyCat
        June 12, 2016

to be fair the camera will probably be the same imx 220/30 like every year without ois

and meizu was always a bit expensive

  9. roni24
    June 12, 2016

open your eyes, its too expensive
oneplus 3 costs 300$ and has snapdragon 820 and 4GB
if Helio X20 phone would cost 200$ then maybe

    • Fábio
      June 12, 2016

How do you know the oneplus 3 price before the launch day? I didn’t found yet any snapdragon 820 phone less than U$ 320

    • Alvaro Molata
      June 12, 2016

Snapdragon 820 chinese phones doesn’t cost less than 350$, here we are talking about a 200$ phone, also CPU ain’t everything on a Phone, and to me the Helio X20 is pretty good, i’ve got a Leeco Le 2 with X20 and runs everything butter smoothly

      • SnowyCat
        June 12, 2016

my le 2 max did cost roughly 318$~ 290€~

but i agree that the performance difference is only visible in benchmarks.

JD.com is taking reservations for the OP3 and they have the price at $460 (2999RMB). That could just be a placeholder, but you should probably wake up from your $300 dream.
