Xiaomi “Red Rice” quad-core MT6589 production underway!

Sources close to Xiaomi are once again claiming the new low-cost “red rice” phone will launch next month with quad-core MT6589 processor.

According to manufacturers and sources in the supply chain, Xiaomi are currently manufacturing 300,000 new Xiaomi phones ready for launch next month during an unconfirmed “Xiaomi Festival”.

Sources say the festival is scheduled for April 9th in Beijing and will serve as the the official launch of MIUI V5 and the all new Xiaomi phone.

The same sources are saying that these phones will feature quad-core Mediatek MT6589 processors, meaning previous leaks of Snapdragon powered phone named the Mi2a might be a different phone all together!

We’ve contacted Xiaomi who haven’t confirmed or denied an event will take place next month.
