OnePlus Trolls Xiaomi on Twitter

We have already mentioned that Xiaomi, along with ZTE and Huawei, are hoping to upset the OnePlus launch, but in true style the young phone start up is taking this as a marketing opportunity.

Last night Xiaomi posted that they have a surpirse in store for the 23rd April, they are of course refering to their odd device which looks a lot like the Apple Magicpad (we believe to be a router), however OnePlus took the opportunity for a spot of trolling;

      Sitr something only when u have achieved anything. OnePlus and all their antics so far(calling out Xiaomi, Samsung, and their sale-by-invitation scheme) is just all about generating marketing hype and publicity(like how a lesser known boxer calls out to the world champion boxer). But you know what they say about empty vessels. If end of the day they dont deliver a solid product, they will just become another upstart trying to get a slice of the pie in the market, but not a very successful one.

        I honestly don’t understand why people like you are so worked up about OnePlus building up hype. There’s nothing wrong with that, yet people seem to be convinced it’s a bad thing.

          Did i sound worked up or are you just choosing to interpret it your own way? All i am saying is that you can talk all you want but end of the day you dont deliver, you fail. The market is saturated as it is. Especially when OnePlus seem to picture themselves as a true competitor to the big boys, they cant afford to become a bag of hot air and nothing more. Anyway, yes….nothing “wrong” with hedging on other’s popularity to make oneself more famous. Its called PUBLICITY.

            Yeah I would agree if it was a bag of air but they have a release date in 3 days and clearly have a product which will definitely release. Weather it will live up to the hype is another question, I suspect though it will be a solid product that will be able to compete at the top end. I’m not a fan of the sale by invitation scheme though, seems like a weird way to sell a phone, people don’t like having to jump through hoops to buy a product and in my opinion it will piss off a fair few people.
