UMi update ROOTJOY database to include new ROMs

UMi have updated their ROOTJOY tool to include new alternate ROM’s for UMi Zero owners to play around with.

A few weeks ago UMi announced their easy to use ROOTJOY tool. The PC suite for the UMi Zero allows UMi owners to update, backup and even install custom ROM’s with a simple one click operation. At launch the tool simply had the latest UMi ROM update available, but now more ROM’s have made their way on to the tool.

UMi Zero users now have the option to install MIUI, EMUI, Android L (themed Kitkat ROM) and LEWA ROM (not pictured here) on to their phones in a simple click.

that’s a good way to go, I hope other chinese phone makers will follow this road… having 3-4 roms “out of the box” and officially supported to choose from would attract more users into these phones, without having to hope for porters to port custom roms!

Are they also releasing the kernel sources or are they doing a “breaking licenses joy” ?

I’ve never heard of Umi, but if they support easy custom roms then I will definitely have to check them out.

The Zero looks good on paper with the AMOLED screen and front/back Gorilla Glass. Can you summarize what makes it crap?

I have it, and all the problem that happened with my Zero in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/umi-zero-flagship-2ghz-mtk6592t-5-ogs-t2897177

Please read from the first page to the last one if you have times. 😀

If UMI would release a good phone this would entice me to buy one. The Zero was close to being good but suffered from poor marketing (price too high initially), and numerous software/hardware problems. I wish more companies would offer this level of commitment to the community.
