Check out these Huawei P9 photo samples

Huawei P9 Photo sample

The launch of the Huawei P9 yesterday confirmed the phones would get Leica certified cameras on the rear, and if you wondered what that would mean to the photo ability of the phone, well here are some samples.

Huawei have taken a rather different approach when it comes to the dual camera set up of their Huawei P9 phones. First of all they teamed up with world-renowned premium camera maker Leica, who have given the phone their seal of approval. Another difference is how the dual cameras work, one camera is set up for depth and colour while the second is for monochrome images, so effectively the camera has two specialised 12 mega-pixel sensors on the rear.

So does all this know-how and technology mean a better photo? Well Huawei certainly hope so, but we’ll leave the following Huawei P9 photo samples to below for you to draw your own conclusions.

Gizchina News of the week

Huawei P9 Photo Samples

I have to say that first impressions are impressive, but there are a few details that need to be taken in to account. First of all these images were taken by professional photographers, not your average consumer. Also some photos have been processed through VSCO.

It will be interesting to see what results the phone gives in the hands of consumers, and I am interested in the amount of noise the cameras make in low-light conditions as it appears the P9 suffers a little (see the skyscraper photo).

I do plan to get my hands on the Huawei P9 later this month to see if the camera set up is worth all the hype. Is anyone else planning to get one?

This is the first phone to really intrigue me out of Chinese manufacturers this year. Whilst there certainly is some visible noise there, I’m going to reserve judgement until some thorough reviews come out. Camera performance is the big factor in my next device. I wanted the Mi5 to be amazing, and whilst it seems perfectly capable, it didn’t quite wow me the way I had hoped.

Have to agree on the Mi5, it was one of the biggest disappointments of the year for me.

The P9 is great, but a bit pricey. Don`t know how many people will pick it up over the S7 or the Iphone 7 when it comes out in 6-7 months.
Me, I personally love it, but will maybe wait a few months for the price to drop 10-20%.

Ono more thing needs to be taken into account – these pictures are probably taken with a tripod. This and what Andi mentioned aren’t exactly conditions we would use the camera every day in.
It will probably remain the best Chinese phone camera so far, tho.

These might have been taken using the camera’s manual mode. Hopefully you can set the shutter speed of it’s camera, like the one in Meizu Pro 5 (420 sec!)

I want this phone to be my next one, I would love to see some camera sample made by people not professional. I would gladly take this over samsung, iPhone, LG etc. Those phones bore me to death.

If anyone wants to compare I have some P8 images here: https://www.mediafire.com/folder/42bvt6akj8k2k/Huawei_P8
Hopefully the P9 has a stronger screen, the P8 is the only phone I’ve had break whilst in my pocket.
