Nokia 3 will be updated to Android 7.1.1 by August’s end

That’s good news I guess for the credibility and after sales support that Nokia plans to have for their fans, don’t you think? According to an official statement issued yesterday by Juho Sarvikas (HMD’s chief product officer) the Nokia 3 is on track to receive an even newer version of Android. According to him, by the end of August, Nokia 3 will be updated to Android 7.1.1 Nougat.

Gizchina News of the week

That’s good news for all those Nokia fans out there for sure. Remember however that the Finnish company hasn’t unveiled – yet- a lot of smartphones so the update procedure for their developers/technicians is quite simple at the moment. It’s relatively easy to do the work for 3 or 4 new products and another to have to support tens of different Android devices running on different Android OS versions.

With this in mind, we could safely assume that at least half the smartphones to be released by HMD this year will be getting Android O updates at some point in the future.

I had the dubious pleasure of trying out this phone for a week, what can I say? Very long boot time (almost 2 minutes), a lot of typos in some of the languages, slowdowns when browsing the Web. Overall, I felt like I was using an overpriced Chinese piece of s**t than a Nokia phone. I really hope they will fix their software because now I’ve lost interest in their higher range devices…
