While we eagerly await the arrival of the Vivo Apex, Vivo has today gone ahead to announce a new mid-range device dubbed – the Vivo Z1 – the first in its Z series of smartphones. With the iPhone X like vertically-placed dual camera on its flip side, the Vivo Z1 parades a glass back with a large bezel-free display with the irregular display notch at the top. The rear side is curved with rounded edges, while it gets a nice paint job including Red, Black and blue colours. The device comes with a rear fingerprint sensor, while the face unlock feature is also provided for additional security.
The first device in the company’s new Z-series parades a 6.26-inch FHD+ display, with a top notch, 19:9 aspect ratio, a resolution of 1080 x 2280 pixels, and is powered by Snapdragon 660 AIE with 4GB RAM. The Vivo Z1 is available only in 64GB storage option, but that can be expanded up to 256GB using microSD.
It comes fitted with a 13MP +2MP camera with LED flash at the back that allows the device to capture portrait shots with the right amount of depth and bokeh, while a powerful 24-megapixel snapper probably with LED flash sits inside the irregular notch.
The device is fueled by a capable 3,260mAh battery, runs on the latest Android 8.1 Oreo with Funtouch OS 4.0 on top, and should come with a full host of connectivity options including 4G VoLTE, WiFi, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS, a USB-C port and a headphone jack.
The Vivo Z1 goes on sale June 4th but is already available for pre-order on Jd.com in Black, Blue and Red for CNY 1,799/ $282 / €240.
