Nokia 8 finally receives the promised Pro Camera update

HMD Global announced some months ago that the Nokia 8 would eventually receive the so-called Nokia Pro Camera update containing a lot of specific improvements and the legendary camera application of Nokia’s Lumia era. Two weeks ago, the Finnish company announced that an update for the high-end Nokia 8 smartphone will be available very soon.

According to a statement from the company, their engineers needed to “overhaul the entire imaging framework” in order to implement all the new features introduced by the Pro Camera update. So in order to bring the best for consumers, there took a very long time to develop the update.

Today, after a long period of wait and high-expectation, HMD’s CPO Juho Sarvikas confirmed the Pro Camera mode will be available to all the Nokia 8 owners through an OTA update that is being rolled out, just now, around the globe. Since it is being delivered in a gradual form, it should take some time to arrive for all eligible devices, but at least it’s good to know that HMD is fulfilling its promise.

The update weighs in at 600MB and brings the promised Nokia’s Pro Camera mode to the Nokia 8, as well as interface improvements and some tweaks for the system stability. HMD advises the users to connect to a Wi-Fi network in order to download the update. As mentioned before, don’t hold your breath since this update can take some days to arrive for all Nokia 8 smartphones.
