As we already know, it uses a notch which many smartphone enthusiasts are still yet to understand because it also comes with a pretty thick chin.  Although it is worthy of note that the notch can be hidden. Now, we have a complete 360-degree view of what this smartphone looks like. This is quite weird because these unboxing images are coming four days before its official launch on June 25th. Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro is an upgraded version of the Redmi 6 which was released some time ago. The product will be available in 3GB+32GB and 4GB+64GB configurations. The Redmi 6 Pro comes with a 5.84-inch screen which has a display resolution of 2280 x 1080 and a screen ratio of 19:9. It supports Xiaomi in-house features such as sunscreen, night screen, eye protection mode and smart environment adaptation mode.

The rear of this smartphone has a plastic + metal + plastic three-stage design structure, it uses a rear fingerprint identification module as well as a dual-camera setup plus a monochrome flash. In the camera department, this smartphone sports a  12MP+5MP dual rear camera design with a pixel size of 1.25μm and PDAF phase focus. The 5MP secondary camera records depth of field information, which is more accurate in the recognition of edge patterns of AI artificial intelligence and it enhances the ability of background blur. The 5MP front camera is also equipped with an AI portrait mode that allows single-focus bokeh. It also supports AI Beauty, HDR modes, and facial unlocking.

The Redmi 6 Pro has a 4000 mAh in-built large-capacity lithium battery. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 eight-core processor which integrates a built-in AI voice assistant. Furthermore, this device can take two nano sim cards and one SDcard slot simultaneously. The bottom fuselage hosts a micro USB interface instead of the USB Type C interface, which may be due to cost control. It is worthy of note that the Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro has a 3.5 mm headphone jack on the top fuselage as well as an infrared module and noise reduction mic on the other side. This smartphone will run MIUI 9 out-of-the-box but it can be upgraded to the latest MIUI 10 through an OTA update.

Other accessories in the box include a  USB cable, charger, and a water-resistant pouch. This phone is not a flagship smartphone, but the company promises that it is a high-performing alternative to flagship devices. Perhaps the notch is put there to make it feel like a flagship device since most current flagship smartphones use a notch design. The Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro will be formally released on June 25th. As for its pricing, this smartphone should have a  1,000 Yuan ($154) starting price which is not bad. See more images below

Why in the world are they releasing phones after phones with SD625…

Probably because of financial reasons. SD625 is quite cheap now and Xiaomi don’t have to put money into Software development since there are tons of Xioami SD625 devices out there where the SW is already backed for the SOC.
