In an exclusive interview with the German technology blog AndroidPIT, Walter Ji, President of Huawei’s Consumer Business Group for the Western European Region, talked about some of the company’s follow-up plans. The president said that Huawei plans to release a flagship phone with four cameras and 10x optical zoom in 2019.

Huawei used the three-camera and 5x optical zoom for the first time on the P20 Pro. It not only made this handset stand out due to its amazing shooting capabilities but also become the number one smartphone in the world in terms of camera, according to DXoMark. This position wasn’t changed even after the release the top-notch iPhone XS Max. The latter only ranks second with 105 total points, while the Huawei P20 Pro has 109 points. The places from 3 to 5 are occupied by the HTC U12+, Samsung Galaxy Note 9, and Xiaomi Mi MIX 3.

Huawei’s goal is clear, to become the world’s largest mobile device manufacturer beyond Samsung. To reach this goal it has to improve not only the overall performance of its phone but also bring more enhanced camera experience.
