LG G7 ThinQ will receive Android 9 Pie in Q1 2019

When it comes to releasing updates for its smartphones it seems that LG has great difficulty, so that the 2018 will close without any of its flagship receiving the expected update to Android 9 Pie.

The South Korean manufacturer, who is following a rather bizarre strategy with LG V40 ThinQ, has announced the roadmap of updates that will be released during the first quarter of 2019.

The only device that will receive the update to Android 9 Pie will be in fact the LG G7 ThinQ, even if the date has not yet been formalized. For all the others there will be only Performance Update, which will solve some bugs or add some functions.

Gizchina News of the week

For LG G6 will come an update that will improve the quality of calls, the responsiveness of Talkback and a solve for a problem related to LG Pay, while for LG V40 ThinQ the update will bring “only” the PentaShot function, a parking assistant and the ability to disable the alarm clock during the holidays.

The December update will instead be full-bodied for LG G7 ThinQ with numerous improvements, bugfixes and security patches, while the update for LG V30 ThinQ will bring improvements and security patches. Therefore this situation makes us think that LG has not yet a clear strategy regarding the future of the smartphone industry.
