Back in this year’s MWC, LG unveiled the LG G8 ThinQ and G8s ThinQ. Four months after the announcement, the company is finally ready to launch the latter. The Korean firm will hold a launch event for the G8s ThinQ in Taiwan on June 28.
The LG G8s ThinQ sports a 6.2-inch FHD+ OLED screen with a wider notch. It is powered by the Snapdragon 855 paired with 6GB of RAM plus 64GB or 128GB of internal storage. A triple rear camera setup (12 MP f/1.5 standard, 12 MP f/2.4 tele with 2x zoom, 13 MP ultra-wide) marks a presence in the rear. On the front, there is an 8MP selfie snapper and an additional ToF camera for gestures. The device is fueled by a 3,550mAh battery and runs Android Pie.
The device will be offered in Carmine Red, New Aurora Black and New Moroccan Blue. Furthermore, the device ships with iP68 certification, which ensures water and dust resistance. It also boasts MIL-STD 810G certification ensuring its ruggedness. G8s ThinQ also offers 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC, Crystal Sound OLED technology.
Besides the rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, G8s ThinQ also ships with FaceID. However, what its particularly interesting on this device is the Hand ID. The new security measure works by the combination of the RGB selfie cam with the ToF sensor. The same technology also ensures that this device is one with the most secure Facial Recognition system in the Android side of the coin.
After its launch in Taiwan, the device’s availability should spread to more markets.
