Honor Band 5i with USB Plug-In Charge unveiled in China

Huawei sub-brand Honor today at a launch event in China unveiled the Honor 20 Lite (Youth Edition). The smartphone is expected to go on sale in China from October 25 through various online retailers. But aside from the Honor 20 Lite, the Chinese firm also unveiled the Honor Band 5i – its latest fitness tracker, and a mild refresh of the Honor Band 5.

The new tracker is already available for pre-order and will be available openly from November 1 on Vmall in China. You can get the Honor Band 5i in Meteorite Black, Coral Powder, and Olive Green color options at about CYN 159/$22 price point. The company has yet to detail availability plans outside of China.

At $22, the new Honor Band fitness tracker brings on board a minor, but much needed design change. Unlike the Band 5 that requires a dedicated charging accessory, the Honor band 5i gets a design that allows you to plug it into a USB port and charge itself. This, in essence, means you won’t have to travel all around with your charger. You can refer to the image below to get a good understanding of the new design.

While the band 5 feature a 100mAh battery, the Band 5i gets a 91mAh battery. And that means it no longer offers up to 2 weeks of battery life. Honor says the new tracker can get you going for between 7-9 days in a single charge.

The new tracker drops the OLED panel for a 0.96-inch (160×80 pixels) colored touchscreen TFT display with a capacitive home button for easy navigation. It features a heart rate monitor, sleep tracking features, and is also 5ATM water-resistant up to a depth of 50m.
