Huawei Mate Xs: the new foldable smartphone is launched

Several months after a presentation in China, Huawei is launching the Mate Xs foldable smartphone internationally. It incorporates a futuristic design, 5G and refreshed characteristics of the Mate X announced a year ago.

The history of foldable smartphones is a bit complex at Huawei. The Chinese manufacturer was one of the first to unveil a competitor for the Samsung Galaxy Fold with the Mate X a year ago. The smartphone has never been marketed outside China, and has been delayed several times. Finally, Huawei takes advantage of this MWC 2020, or what remains of it, to unveil the Mate XS. A new version of its foldable smartphone that finally seems ready for marketing.

HUAWEI MATE XS WITH IMPRESSIVE DESIGN

The Huawei Mate Xs has the same very impressive design of the Huawei Mate X. It is, therefore, a foldable smartphone, which offers a single screen that can be folded to use the device as a smartphone, or unfold to use it as a tablet. The unfolded screen has a total diagonal of 8 inches, which becomes a 6.38 or 6.6-inch screen depending on the side used when it is folded.

Huawei announces that the Mate XS uses an alloy based on Zirconium which is said to be 30% harder than titanium. The fragility of foldable smartphones remains one of their major flaws so far, and we will wait for the smartphone tests to find out more.

Huawei Mate XS is probably the best implementation of foldable phone right now. The best smartphone/Tablet hybrid. The new mechanism hindge stretches the screen even more, which makes the crease, less visible.
    GG Huawei!
