The document states that as of the end of 2019, 35 Chinese 5G smartphones have network access licenses. In addition, the data also shows that the Chinese market has shipped 13.77 million 5G smartphones. After the official commercialization of 5G at the end of October, the scale of China’s 5G users and network coverage expanded rapidly. By the end of the year, China had over 130,000 5G base stations. Furthermore, the number of users also increases at a rate of one million new users per month.

In terms of traffic distribution, the website of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology says that mobile users consume more than 30% of traffic in 2019 using short video applications. In 2019, the consumption of mobile Internet access traffic reached 122 billion GB, an increase of 71.6% over the previous year. The annual average monthly household traffic (DOU) hit 7.82GB / household/month, 1.69 times that of the previous year. In December, the DOU hit 8.59GB / household/month which is quite huge. However, DOUs in western provinces such as Yunnan, Guizhou, and Qinghai easily exceed 10GB / month/household. Meanwhile, DOUs in Shandong and Sichuan are lower than 6GB / month/household.
