GTA 5 becomes free on PC

There is something happening on the side of the Epic Games Store: According to the leaks, the next game offered to users will be GTA 5, the popular game of Rockstar Games sold over 120 million copies. The appointment is made for this Thursday, May 14. It will be available to download for free later today.

“Get GTA V for free on PC until May 21. It will be yours forever on the Epic Games Store” said an Epic Games store tweet, which should be republished when it becomes official. Given the praise received by GTA V since its launch in 2013 on PS3 and Xbox 360, this is a big surprise from Epic Games.

Gizchina News of the week

On the Twitter account of the Epic Games Store, you can find a teaser that supports the leak. Since May 7, the company was teasing for a ‘Free Game’ – and inevitably hides a big announcement. This is not the first time that Epic Games has been so generous: in September 2019, the excellent Batman: Arkham trilogy and three LEGO games were offered.

Of course, you could say that most players already has a copy of GTA V. At least players interested in the title available on PS3, Xbox 360, PS4, Xbox One and PC. But Take-Two Interactive’s financial results show that it continues to sell despite the weight of the years. According to a GameSpot article published on February 6, 20 million copies were sold last year.

To download GTA V without paying anything when the time comes, care must be taken to activate two-factor authentication. It is temporarily mandatory on the Epic Games Store to raise awareness about securing your account. The download may be slow due to the pressure on Epic servers in the first hours.
