A few days ago, Huawei a smart camera for highway monitoring. This device comes with features such as Super Starlight AI dual-mode dome, panoramic + detail all-weather visibility, and front-end intelligence.
The cameras generally used in high-speed industries are mainly pan-tilt gun cameras or dome cameras. These devices usually have a focal length above 100mm and an optical zoom of 20x. When performing optical zooming in and out, the global viewing angle will be lost.

The Huawei AI dual-mode dome camera combines the technology of Huawei’s mobile phone and adds a 5mm lens to a dome camera. With this design, it achieves a 220mm telephoto lens and a wide-angle 5mm lens. The 220mm telephoto lens uses a 4MP sensor and supports 40x zoom. Furthermore, it can monitor event details in any interval from 20-1000m as needed.
The wide-angle 5mm lens has a large F/1.0 aperture and a large field of view. This enables the camera to cover a very wide scene without blind spots. The two work together to achieve detailed and overall visibility, avoiding the shortcomings of traditional PTZ cameras.
At present, Huawei has launched the highway monitoring smart camera with 7 incident detection algorithms, including parking detection, retrograde detection, pedestrian intrusion, leftover objects, congestion detection, group fog detection, and traffic accidents.
It also supports 9 video quality diagnostic scenarios, including snow, color cast, image freezing, gain imbalance, camera shake, streak noise, etc.
